Sunday, July 5th 6-8PM – Desmos Calculator Workshop

This workshop will take a deep dive into how to most effectively use the built-in Desmos Calculator (on the Bluebook App) to save time and energy on the SAT. Around 50% of the questions on any given module can be approached with desmos. This workshop will get you comfortable with recognizing desmos-friendly questions, as well as some of the little known desmos tools that can help you solve the toughest questions.

Wednesday, July 15th 2:30-4:30PM - Standard English Conventions (grammar and punctuation) Workshop

The standard english conventions domain of the verbal module is typically where students have the most gaps in their knowledge. This workshop not only teaches the concepts necessary to do well on this section but also illuminates how to rigorously approach questions based on repetitive patterns created by test makers. The ability to recognize these patterns and to implement a specific approach can help students gain more points while also move students through the questions more quickly.

Concepts covered: Punctuation Rules, Apostrophes, Subject-Verb agreement, Verb Tense, Verb Form, Subject-Modifier Placement, Subject-Pronoun agreement.

Thursday, July 30th 6-8PM - Reading Questions Strategies and Tips

This workshop will take a deep dive into the first half of the verbal module (the reading questions). Here’s a few of the topics we’ll cover:

  • how to approach the questions with an Active Reading strategy

  • how to precisely identify evidence for your answer to the words in context questions

  • the anatomy of function of the underlined portionquestions, and how to eliminate wrong answers quickly

  • a quick trick/tip for overall structure questions

  • common test-maker patterns in the answers for main idea, main purpose, and logically completes questions

  • the three types of command of evidence questions, and the specific approach for each one

  • how to quickly tackle command of evidence (data) questions when time is running out

  • strategies for pacing and running low on time for the second hard verbal module

Sunday, August 9th 10AM-12PM – Tackling Tough Math Q’s

This workshop exposes the common ways that test makers spice up hard questions. It will also review the commonly tested concepts/question types that occur near the end of the first module and the latter half of the hard second module.

Students will receive a 50-question problem set with an answer key as a supplement to this course.

COST: $90/session and 10% discount for pre-purchased 4-session bundle. If cost is a barrier, please reach out to Annick to discuss a reduced fee.
