Pre-requisites: Junior PSAT, recent official SAT, or diagnostic SAT score of at least 1100.
Class size: Capped at 12 students.
When: Begins Sunday, June 28th with a 2-hour intro class from 6-8pm; continues every Tuesday from 7:30-9pm. Please see course flyer below for detailed course schedule.
Where: Online. All classes can be recorded in the event of absence; it’s not recommended to miss more than 2 live classes, though.
Who: This course is designed with many different kinds of students in mind. If you’re looking for a more basic SAT course, the foundational 8-session course is a great fit. If you’re looking for a more intensive course with ample avenues to dig deeper into the SAT concepts and strategies for big point jumps, the foundational 8-session course plus the four summer workshops would be a good option. If you’re looking for all of that plus personalized tips and tricks, then adding on 1-3 private sessions is ideal.
This course serves students preparing for the August SAT and September SAT. A group course student who plans to test in September will have the option to engage in private sessions after the prep course finishes. I am limited by how many private students I can take on for September SAT, so please note that there are only 4 seats in the course available for students testing in September who would like to continue on with private tutoring after the August course ends.
Results: will vary drastically based on student motivation and buy-in. If a student is showing up to every class with full presence and diligently completing their homework at a high quality level of effort, then 200-300 points of improvement is not uncommon, particularly if the student opts for a more intensive course route (workshops and private prep). I’ve seen students attend my group course who are clearly not paying attention during the course, not engaging fully with the homework, and missing some class sessions and who only improve 10-50 points. If the goal is to increase familiarity with the test and gain confidence, a small point increase is not necessarily negative, but it’s important to orient to your intentions for taking this course and see if you’re on board with doing the work required to make those intentions a reality.
Cost: Varies. I use a 3-tier sliding scale* system for the group course. If a student is interested in signing up for the group course, I will send an intake form that will clearly detail why I use a sliding scale and how to place yourself appropriately in a tier. Please see the flyer below for more details on pricing.
*if the lowest tier still presents a barrier to access, please get in touch to discuss.
